3. Fairey Swordfish
Great Britain - 1934

Antiquated by the time World War 2 began, the Swordfish was a carrier-based torpedo bomber that played a key role in some of the most famous naval actions of the war.  It was involved in the Battle of Norway in April 1940, and then in November 1940 Swordfish would devastate the Italian fleet at Taranto.  Perhaps the most famous Swordfish action of all took place in May 1941 when they helped cripple the hated Bismarck in the frigid North Atlantic.  This is a model of one of the aircraft that participated in that attack.
